Healthcare reform & why we need to discuss it. PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 21 August 2009 11:28

Welcome to RubinHealth.com and thanks for reading my first “blog” – it’s a term I have never really felt comfortable using, but I find increasingly important in the current healthcare reform environment.   This is our Beta launch of the site so please give us some time to work out the kinks.  Over time, if this works and we see people engage in the conversation, we will add increasing functionality – stay tuned!!!  If you have questions or are confused, please post us a question.  We will read them every day and aggregate the content to answer the questions – hopefully solving your problems or explaining what healthcare  reform is all about.  For those of you who know me, listen to my radio show on Sirius/XM Doctor Radio, or have seen me on TV, you will know a few important things:

  1. I am not engaged in the healthcare conversation for ego.  I am the son of a physician and my first job at age 17 was working in a hospital operating room.  While I went on to get degrees in finance/accounting, healthcare was always something that was important to me.  That’s when I decided to go back to grad school at Tulane and get my Master of Health Administration and have focused my career in healthcare delivery and operations for the past 15 years.  I love healthcare, I chose this line of work because it’s the most important thing we as a society value – good health.

  2. The current system of healthcare is totally messed up and needs reform.  In my daily blog, along with your postings, we will be able to have an honest discussion about what works in the system today, what we need to fix for tomorrow, and how we can actually get it done.  The dialog that is happening now, although exceptionally controversial, needs to happen.  On the other hand, the information being given out in the media outlets are either partisan or lacking clarity – BECAUSE THERE IS NO CLARITY.

  3. I will help explain all of this to you, the readers and participants in the conversation on Rubin Health.com.  I will remove the politics, I will tell you the truth – what is good about each idea, what is bad, and what is practical.  Healthcare is a huge part of our economy.  Messing it up has taken decades.  Fixing it correctly will take much more time.

If I am successful with this blog, you will be able to come to this site and get new information each day.  Focusing on the facts, not fiction, and decoding what is very complex and often misunderstood.

Thanks for visiting RubinHealth.Com.  I hope you will come back every day.
